Painter
Andrey Grositsky studied at Moscow Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov at the faculty of painting, in the workshop of D. K. Mochalsky (1953–1959).
Grositsky was a member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1968.
The first personal exhibition of the artist was held in 1988 in Troitsk, Moscow Oblast. The other personal exhibitions of Grositsky were organized:
In 1991 — Andrey Grositsky in the Central House of Artist (Moscow);
In 1993 — exhibition in the Museum of History, Architecture and Fine Arts New Jerusalem (Istra, Moscow Oblast);
In 1994 — Andrey Grositsky in Gregory Gallery (Washington, USA);
In 1994 — New Dimensions of Reality (together with Herard van de Utelaar) in the A–3 Gallery (Moscow);
In 1995 — The Wall of Alienation in the Sem Gvozdey Gallery (“Seven nails”), Russian-American press centre (Moscow);
In 1997 — The Life of Things in the A–3 Gallery (Moscow).
Grositsky took part in many group exhibitions in Russia and abroad:
1975 — the Exhibition of works by Moscow Artists, at the pavilion House of Culture, Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy (VDNKh, Moscow);

1995 — Exhibition of works from Alexander Gleser’s collection, the Museum of private collections under the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow);
1996 — Nonconformists — the Second Russian Avant-garde 1955–1988 (from Bar-Gera’s collection), the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg); Frankfurt am Main (Germany);
1997 — The World of Collector. Contemporary View (from E. M. Nutovich’s collection), the Museum of private collections under the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow).
Grositsky wrote about his art: “In early 1960s I was under the influence of Sezann and the artists of the group Bubnovy Valet (“Jack of Diamonds”). Later I discovered the Old Russian art; in particular I took a great interest in icon painting. The year of 1968 was so called turning point in my art. I have found my own way in art. I have realized that there was a great depth of meaning in ordinary things”.
Works by Andrey Grositsky are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the Museum of History, Architecture and Fine Arts New Jerusalem (Istra), Serpukhov History and Art Museum (Serpukhov), Penza Oblast Picture Gallery named after K. A. Savitsky (Penza), the Museum of Modern Art (Vladivostok), and in private collections.
