In 1900-х he began learning sculpture, using the advice А. С. Голубкиной and К. Ф. Крахта. In 1909-1911 учился in Paris in the Studio Ф. Коларосси and workshop А. Майоля. Studied classical sculpture in Rome.

he Lived in Moscow. Worked in the field of easel and monumental sculpture. In his early works show the influence of the symbolists and creativity А. С. Голубкиной (the song "Laugh", "Dream", both — 1911). The portrait busts: artists В. Д. Поленова (1916), И. И. Бродского; artists П. М. Садовского (1918), Е. Б. Вахтангова (1924), В. И. Немировича-Данченко (1942), М. М. Тарханова; figures of the revolution and party leaders К. Либкнехта, Р. Люксембург, М. В. Фрунзе (1922), А. Д. Цюрупы (1926-1927), С. М. Буденного (1927), Ф. Э. Дзержинского (1936).

have Executed projects for monuments В. И. Ленину (1924, for the locomotive depot of the October railway; 1927), Н. Э. Бауману, Г. К. Орджоникидзе, С. А. Чаплыгину. For the monument В. П. Чкалову in Gorky (1939) awarded the State (Stalin) prize 1942 года.

he was Buried at Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow.

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the State Tretyakov gallery.
