BOTKIN Fedor Vladimirovich

21 октября (2 ноября) 1861 (Moscow) — 4 (17) March 1905 (Le Vesinet, near Paris)

Painter, graphic artist

From a famous merchant family Botkins; nephew of the painter and collector М. П. Боткина. Studied mathematics, then — law faculty of Moscow University (graduated with honors). In 1887 he moved to Italy. In the late 1880-х attended private art workshops in Naples and Florence, classes at the Milan Academy of arts, 1889 — in private Studio А. Ф. Фолля in Paris.

he Lived in Paris, summer of 1897 — in Saint-Тропе in the South of France, in the summer of 1901 — in Switzerland. Author of decorative panels, allegorical compositions, portraits: "Evening on the lake. Three female silhouette (Experience decorative motif in yellow colours)", "Female silhouette" (1897), "bather" (late 1890-х), "portrait of an unknown" (1900), "Nymph", "Portrait А. Е. Боткиной (the artist's mother)", "Head girl", "Model".

In 1899 he was invited С. П. Дягилевым to participate in 1-й the exhibition of the magazine "World of art" in St. Petersburg as a representative of the Paris colony of Russian artists. Participated in exhibition: Russian and Finnish artists in St-Петербурге (1898), Munich secession (1898), in the Russian section of the world exhibition in Paris (1900). According to some sources, also exhibited in the salons: Independent, National society of fine arts; the exhibitions of the Society of independent artists in Paris; the Vienna secession.

In 1901-1905 was in a psychiatric hospital in Le Vesinet near Paris.

Posthumous exhibitions of the artist were held in Moscow and St. Petersburg (1906-1907; @ 4-й the exhibition of the Union of Russian artists).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery, State Russian Museum, Yaroslavl art Museum, Tver regional art gallery, Saratov state art Museum named after. А. Н. Радищева Perm state art gallery, Omsk state Museum of fine arts. М. А. Врубеля Irkutsk regional art Museum im. В. П. Сукачева far Eastern art Museum in Khabarovsk, the State Museum of fine arts of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
