Painter, graphic artist

the Son of the painter, academician of the Imperial Academy of arts К. А. Горбунова. He studied at the Drawing school of the Society for the encouragement of artists in St. Petersburg and the Imperial Academy of arts (1872-1878): as a volunteer at the battle-painting class at Б. П. Виллевальде. During his studies he was awarded small silver (1873, 1875, 1877, 1878) and large silver (1875, 1877, 1878) medals. In 1889, for the painting "the battle of the Ice in 1242 году, the victory of Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky over the Livonians" received the title neklassnogo (free) artist.

Lived in St. Petersburg and Tsarskoye Selo. Worked as an animal painter, portraitist, served genre and historical compositions. Author of painting works: "the Family of Diana" (1881), "family Dog", "Broken game" (both — 1882), "Detour circuits infantry on maneuvers" (1883), "On manoeuvres at Krasnoye Selo" (1884), "Pugs" (1886), "falconry of the Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich" (1887), "the Fair of horses in the XVII century" (1891), "Indigenous (study dogs)".

From 1882 — participated in exhibitions. Exhibited: Society of exhibitions of works of art (1882, 1883), the Imperial Academy of arts (1884-1891).

Work is represented in many Museum collections — in particular in the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Museum of fine arts of the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan.
