Frentz Rudolf Fedorovich (Ferdinandovich)

Biographical details are scarce. He graduated from the course of the Berlin Academy of Arts (in 1854). In 1859 came to Russia. Lived near Gatchina near St. Petersburg. Wrote mostly hunting scenes. He worked under orders of the Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich (senior), in the suite which made the trip to Russia. Then, accompanied by the Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich hunting. Within a few years as an artist was when the great heir to the throne Prince Alexander Alexandrovich (the future Emperor Alexander III). Participated in academic fairs and exhibition TPHV (1878). Exhibited his works as the World Exhibition in Paris (1867 and 1878), Philadelphia (1876), Berlin (1886).

In 1885 he was awarded an honorary associate of the Academy of the free IAH, in 1912 elected as an academician.

Frents works are in several museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Museum of Russia Academy of Arts and others.
