Childhood and adolescence spent in Vilna. He studied at the Jesuit boarding (did not graduate). In 1913 as an actor he performed with a theatrical troupe in Russian and Ukrainian cities. In Kiev he met and became friends with М. А. Кузьминым.

From 1913 he lived in St. Petersburg. Was engaged in literary activities. Enjoyed the patronage of М. А. Кузьмина who invented pen name — Yurkun. Was with friendly relations with many representatives of cultural life of that time — С. Э. Радловым, Л. И. Каннегисером, В. В. Маяковским, Б. К. Лившицем, Г. В. Ивановым, Г. В. Адамовичем, В. А. Милашевским and other; frequent visitor to art workshops, artistic cabaret "Halt comedians" and "stray dog". Member of the informal literary society "the Marseilles sailors" (1917).

the author of the novel "Swedish gloves" (St. Petersburg, 1914), a collection of "Stories written on Kirochnaya street in the house № 48" (PG., 1916), the story "Bad company" (PG., 1917). In 1910-е published in magazines "Twinkle", "Lukomorie", "Petersburg nights". Together with М. А. Кузьминым, С. Э. Радловым, А. А. Радловой signed a "Declaration of emotionalism" (1923).

In 1918 he was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a revolutionary М. С. Урицкого released on the petition М. Горького. With 1920/1921 — husband of the artist and the artist О. Н. Гильдебрандт-Арбениной (not officially married).

After 1923 ceased to be published. Became interested in fine art, collecting. Formal artistic education is not received. The advice В. А. Милашевского. Created genre scenes, landscapes, caricatures, sketches, figures, collages. Executed a number of drawings for the works М. А. Кузьмина. A member of the group "13", participant 1-й exhibition Association (1929).
