From a noble family; the son of a naval officer. Graduated from the Kharkiv commercial College. In his youth he was very interested in natural Sciences and Ethnography; for task of the ethnographic Museum of Kharkiv participated in a scientific expedition to Asia. Then got into sculpture. Participant of the First world war. Was on the Romanian front; was wounded and gassed, for a long time was treated. During the revolution lost his family and the family estate.
In 1919, he emigrated to Turkey, where he met К. А. Терешковичем. Then moved to Greece. He studied at the sculpture Department of the Athens Academy of fine arts. Received financial support (and other Russians in Greece) Greek Queen Olga. He moved to Italy, then — to France. In 1928 he settled in Paris and is professionally engaged in sculpture.
Created image of Nudes, animal figures; turned to Russian themes. Worked mainly with wood, at least — with marble, ivory, copper. Cut cameos. Worked on the woodcut.
a member of the group "La Horde de Montparnasse (the Horde of Montparnasse"). Exhibited in the salons — Autumn, Independent (1925-1939, with interruptions), Verhnesvirsky. Held a personal exhibition in the gallery "P. Loujetzky" in the Hague (1933).
In 1936 he joined the Union of homecoming; participated in the decoration of the hall for one of his artistic evenings.
