born in the family interpreter A. Steinberg. Brother-known non-conformist artists Edward Steinberg. He spent his childhood in Ukhta (Komi Republic), where he lived in the settlement of his father. In 1953 he returned to the North in Tarusa Kaluga. Since 1956 engaged in literature, in 1957 - paintings. In 1960 his family moved to Moscow. Became acquainted with DP Plavinsky, AV Kharitonov, A. V. Zverev, and other young artists, as well as some collectors of contemporary art, in particular with the Brazilian diplomat, Mr. . Suarez. Worked in the studio on Novoslobodskaya Street 62 (next to the club model airplanes).

In 1970-1971 Borukh work exhibited at Nuove correnti a Mosca at the Museum of Fine Arts (Lugano, Switzerland) and Alexej Smirnov und russische Avantgarde aus Moskau in a private gallery in Zurich (Switzerland).

In 1974 he joined the group of artists who are actively defending their right to freedom of creativity, headed by J. O. Rabin. In that same year participated in the first autumn viewing pictures outdoors in Belyaevo, known as the "Bulldozer Exhibition", and then - in the second autumn viewing pictures outdoors in the Izmailovo Park. In 1975 became part of the initiative group for the first officially sanctioned exhibition of new art in the pavilion "Culture House" on VDNH. In 1970, also participated in many apartment exhibitions, including exhibitions in the apartment Andrievich N., Ginzburg, I. Kiblitsky, own workshop.

in 1977 arrested, a court was declared insane and sent to a psychiatric hospital. In 1978, out of the hospital. In the same year work Borukh exhibited at a group exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Chartres. Personal exhibition of the artist held in 1982 (Zurich, Cologne, Amsterdam), 1983 (USA), 1987 (Switzerland), 1988 (FRG). In 1991 took part in the exhibition "The Other Art" in Moscow. In 2002, the Art Gallery of the Moscow Jewish Community Center was organized by the artist's solo exhibition "In looking for my soul", which was the last lifetime exhibition of his work.

I created non-figurative painting, referring to the tradition of geometric abstract art of the first third of the twentieth century, often making three-dimensional composition using sheet metal, nails, plywood and so on.

Borukh works are in many museum and private collections.
