Painter, graphic artist, sculptor

From a Jewish family, orphaned early. He received his artistic education in Berlin (1920-1923). He lived in Paris (from 1923), he studied in private art studios. The representative of the "Paris school". He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes, genre scenes. A member and Exhibitor of the salon d'automne (1929), participated in the exhibition of contemporary art in the gallery "M. Bernheim" (1929), salon des Tuileries (1930-1939). His personal exhibitions were held in Paris galleries "Quatre Chemins" (1926), "Girard" (1929), "M. Bernheim" (1932, 1936, 1939).

In 1926 впервые visited the new-Йорке in connection with the organization of a personal exhibition in the gallery "J.B. Newman". In 1933-1934 he worked again in new-Йорке. Wrote portrait Ф. Рузвельта (1934). In 1940 he moved to USA, lived in California. In 1950 he travelled to Paris. His personal exhibitions were held in "Stendahl gallery" in Los-Анджелесе (1941), the Museum of art Los-Анджелеса (1943). Participated in the activities of the California art club (from 1940-х).

the Father of Director and screenwriter albert Band (1924-2002), the grandfather of the film Director and film producer Charles Band (b. 1951) and composer Richard Band (b. 1953).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — the Luxembourg Museum in Paris, the Museum of art Los-Анджелеса (LACMA), Museum Hecht, University of Haifa, Jewish State Museum of the Vilna Gaon in Vilnius, and others.
