born in the family of a soldier Semenov regiment Gerasimos Petrova and daughter miniaturist Grigory Semenovich Musikiysky. He studied at the St. Petersburg garrison school. Since February 1749 the House was engaged in the Drawing, from June 1753 - in the Engraving of the Academy of Sciences in IA Sokolova. In early 1759 transferred to the IAH, was engaged by GF Schmidt. From 1767 he taught at IAH arithmetic and geometry of the younger students. In 1771, dismissed from service voluntarily (due to eye disease).

worked in the field of reproduction in the techniques of engraving and etching tool. Served portraits, copies of engravings Western masters, illustrations. The artistic heritage of Gerasimov relatively small and has (along with educational work) 28 pieces. The best of them - portraits of PS Saltykov (between 1760 and 1762), Grand Duke Paul Petrovich (1762), PI Yaguzhinsky (1766), E. Sievers (1768 ), T. Dimsdeyla (1769), MK Dashkova (1760-e), B. E.
