he Graduated from the Romanian school in Chernivtsi. From 1922 he studied medicine in Ghent, from 1924 — at the medical faculty of the University of Paris. In Paris met with the artist С. О. Карским who later married (1930). Entered the circle of artists and poets, mostly immigrants from Russia. Studied painting and drawing at Х. Сутина; from 1935 he devoted himself entirely to painting.

painting abstract paintings, often incorporating three-dimensional elements — coils of wire, leaves, tree bark, stucco forms. Worked in the techniques of lithography, monotypes. The author works: "leaf collage" (1953), "Spain. Warrior" (1954), "a Letter unanswered" (1955), "the Gray days" (1960), "Dead donkey" (1961), "Painting" (1962) and others.

In the period of Nazi occupation of Paris, she worked in the Studio on painting scarves and posters (1940-1941), and in 1943 moved to Montpellier, where he held his first solo exhibition (gallery Favier). After the war he returned to Paris.

Traveled to Spain, Italy and other European countries, USA, Mexico (1950-60-е).

In 1950-е was fascinated by collage, 1970-е — to create dolls. In 1960-70-х performed cardboards for tapestries and fabrics, she was engaged in weaving; was awarded the prize of the city of Paris for the tapestry. Turned to books, particularly illustrated humorous poem Э. Хесс "Midnight call" (1965).

From 1936 exhibited at the salon des Tuileries, 1955 — in the salon of New realities. His personal exhibitions were held in Paris (1946, 1949, 1950, 1954, 1957, 1959, 1962, 1989), new-Йорке (1957), Munich (1959), Rome, Turin, Milan (all — 1960), Nantes (1963) and other cities.

Retrospective exhibitions of the artist were held in Paris (1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2008), Freiburg im Breisgau (1995), Orleans (1997), Cologne (2000).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, including the Museum of modern art in Paris (Centre Ж. Помпиду), Museum St-Этьена and others.
