Studied at the Kiev gymnasium. Original art education was under the guidance of К. С. Павлова (1850-1855) in Kiev. Traveled to little Russia, he worked as a portraitist. In 1864 came to St. Petersburg; as an auditor attended classes at the Imperial Academy of arts (1864-1869). In 1864, for the painting "Girl-малороссиянка at the harvest" was awarded a small silver medal, in 1865, for the painting "Malorossiysky at the well" — a large silver medal. In 1867, for the painting "Girl sitting in chairs" received the title of class artist of 2-й extent, in 1868, for the painting "the Bride, received back the engagement ring (Broken dreams)" — of class artist 1-й degree and a medal М.-Э. Л. Виже-Лебрен "for the expression".

he Lived in Kiev and St Petersburg. Worked as a genre painter, portraitist, wrote the "female head". Works published in magazines "world illustration", "Bee", "Niva" and others.

Exhibited at the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of arts (1864-1891, with interruptions), Society of exhibitions of works of art (1876) in St. Petersburg. Held the exhibition of one painting ("the virgin") in Kiev and St. Petersburg (1888-1889).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the Science-исследовательском Museum of the Russian Academy of arts, National art Museum of Ukraine, Odessa art Museum and others.
