Born into a peasant family. To 1868 he studied at the Drawing School of the Society for the Promotion of Artists. In 1868 he traveled to Italy. In 1868-1875 he studied at the IAH, first as volnoslushayuschego in 1870 - a permanent student in the class of historical painting by P. Shamshina, BP Villevalde, FA Bruni, F. I. Jordan, K. B. Wenig, TA Neff. During the period of study awarded medals: in 1869 - a small bonus for the drawing, in 1870 - big and small silver for drawing and sketch from life in 1871 - a large silver to sketch from nature, in 1873 - a small gold for the painting " David plays the harp before Saul. In 1875 a program on a gold medal "The Apostle Paul explains the tenets of faith in the presence of King Agrippa, his sisters, Veronica and the proconsul Festus" was promoted to the class artist 1-st degree, without the awarding of medals. IAH Council applied for the artist to a pensioner's trip abroad with a condition of his graduation from the scientific course, but this condition is not fulfilled curd, receiving a diploma from the Academy only in 1880.

Since 1895 (in 1918) taught at the IAH in 1897 - Professor, Head of the studio, in 1898-1918 - Full Professor in natural classroom. In 1906, for fame in the artistic field was awarded the title of academician.

Tvorozhnikova works are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Museum of Russia Academy of Arts, Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum and others.
