14 лет lived in Paris, where he studied under the guidance Ж. Далу and О. Родена. In 1890 he debuted in the salon of the Champs Elysees. In 1890-е — 1920-е has created an extensive series of bronze and marble busts ("the Poet А. Рембо", "Fiddler Л. Ренье", "Cardinal Rompel"), executed genre scenes, worked in the field of memorial sculpture.

In 1900-е often come to Russia; was visiting Л. Н. Толстого in Yasnaya Polyana; in 1911, performed by the French jeweler Boucheron's medal in memory of the writer. Executed sculptural composition "Parnassus" for the portico of the Museum of fine arts on Volkhonka street, which was not accepted by the customer and subsequently installed in an Apartment house (1907) at St Nicholas (plotnikovsky side) lane in Moscow. Participated in the competition for the monument to Alexander II in St. Petersburg. He exposed his works at the world exhibition in Paris (1900), world exhibition in Rome (1911).

In February 1944 was arrested by the Gestapo in Paris and placed in the concentration camp of Drancy, where he soon died.

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the State Russian Museum.
