Biographical information about the artist is extremely scarce and needed clarification. Do not know the exact date of the master of life: in the literature 1780 and 1784 as the year of birth, 1863 - the year of death.

In 1814 he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, about 1815-1820 - in the studio of Giuseppe Grassi in Rome. He became an honorary member of the Academy of St. Luke in Rome. In 1820 he moved to St. Petersburg, where he obtained the post of court painter until 1822 worked as a painter of the Imperial Hermitage. In 1822, a well executed portrait of the Empress Elizabeth Alekseyevna was sent to Europe to copy the masters of Italian Renaissance paintings, which were intended for the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, "to the benefit of students. Bosse himself compiled a list of works, from which to perform the copy. For his work, he asked three thousand rubles annually. The artist settled in Dresden. From 1822 to 1830 carried out some 15 works of this kind.
