Kiprensky - an outstanding painter and graphic artist of the first third of the XIX century, one of the founders of Romanticism in Russian art. Known primarily as an excellent portrait painter, who could skilfully transmit the spiritual, emotional life of their models. Moreover, for each of his works are an individual of color and plastic decision. Some of his portraits are built on the sharp black and white and color contrasts, others, on the finest play of colors and delicate gradations of light and shade.
