He graduated from the Art Institute in Chicago (1917). In parallel, studied Opera, tenor; has performed in Opera productions, musicals, radio.

Completed a series of compositions under the title "Americana" — group portraits of prominent American composers, artists, poets, scientists.

In 1920-30-е participated in group exhibitions, had three personal exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago. Winner of numerous awards, including several prizes of the Institute of Chicago (1927, 1928, 1930, 1936, 1946).

In 1930-е gave a number of his works for the Museum in Birobidzhan. From 1940-х worked in an abstract manner. From 1970 suffered from progressive Alzheimer's disease. He was buried in Chicago.

a Retrospective exhibition was held in Chicago (1984). An exhibition of works from the collection of the artist's family, were held in Chicago (2006, 2007).
