Painter, draftsman, military leader

Systematic arts education did not. He painted mainly landscapes of the Caucasus; worked a lot in watercolors. In 1872, for the painting "View of Naples" was awarded a small silver medal honorable mention the Imperial Academy of arts, in 1881, for the painting "From the region of eternal snow, the source of the Inguri", "First Hello of the sun grandfather Ararat", "View of the Borjomi Palace of Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich in Transcaucasia", "the Mountain of Detmold" was awarded the title of class artist 1-й degree. In 1884, for the painting "Fire 1000-летней the town hall in Aachen" elected academician of the Imperial Academy of arts.

participated in exhibitions in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1873, 1874, 1885, 1886); Russian art-промышленной exhibition in Moscow (1882); international exhibitions in Berlin (1886, 1887).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, among them — Georgian national Museum in Tbilisi.
