Painter, draftsman

From the family official, who served as cashier of the St. Petersburg educational house. In 1832 he was enrolled in the Institute of the corps of mining engineers (graduated in 1841), where he received his primary art education under the guidance of academician of historical and portrait painting Г. А. Крылова.

In 1841-1844 served as the "conductor of the headquarters of mining engineers". In parallel, as volnoprihodyaschim student attended classes at the Imperial Academy of arts (1841-1847); was in a class of landscape painting in М. Н. Воробьева. In 1844, for the painting "Oreanda on the southern coast of Crimea" received a silver medal in 1845 for seascapes — small and large silver medals. In 1847, for the painting "View of Constantinople" was awarded a small gold medal; released from the Academy with the title of artist XIV class.

Lived in St. Petersburg. In 1845 he made a trip to the Crimea and the Caucasus, which fulfilled the album of drawings. As a painter and with the financial support of the Society for the promotion of artists participated in the expeditions to Asia Minor П. А. Чихачева (1846-1847, 1848) and Egypt Е. П. Ковалевского (1847). Created landscape sketches, sketches; a part of this work was published in the book "journey into the inner Africa Е. П. Ковалевского (St. Petersburg, 1849). Participated in creating a gift album for Queen Victoria. In 1849 appealed to the Council of the Imperial Academy of arts with the request to allow him to participate in the competition for a gold medal, but was refused.

he Painted mainly seascapes; the author of paintings and watercolors: "View of Alupka in the Crimea", "Sukhum-Кале from the sea", "Sea coast", "Smugglers", "View Ayu-Даг from the sea", "On the beach", "seven-towered castle in Constantinople, View of the seaside town. Venice", "Into the storm", "View of Constantinople, View of the fortress Pitsunda...", "Ship in storm" (all — the second half of the 1840-х). Executed a number of portraits (Vladimirtseva, Gordeeva) and works genre content ("Players", "Prisoners of the Caucasus mountain people").

he Exhibited his works at exhibitions in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1842, 1849).

he died Tragically, drowned while boating in Kronverksky Strait at the fortress.

the Work Dorogova is represented in several Museum collections, including the State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov gallery, the State Hermitage, the State Museum of fine arts of the Republic of Tatarstan and others.
