he Studied at the Kiev art school. In 1915-1917 he served in the Russian army; participant of the First world war. In 1919 he fled from pogroms in Bessarabia. In 1923 he emigrated to Palestine. In 1927 he lived in Paris, where he attended various art workshops and Academy.

From 1929 he lived in tel Aviv-Авиве, 1970 — in the kibbutz Tsova on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Wrote semi-abstract compositions, portraits, landscapes, still lifes; worked a lot in watercolors. Was among the initiators of the first art exhibitions in Palestine (1923). From 1924 he headed the Palestinian Association of artists and sculptors. One of the founders and exponents of the group "New horizons" (1948). In 1954-1955 работал in Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels.

participated in many group exhibitions of Jewish artists: "7 художников of Israel" at the Institute of contemporary art Boston (1953), "Israeli art" at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Palace of fine arts in Brussels (1955), "10 лет Israeli painting" at the Museum of arts tel Aviv-Авива (1958), "the Art of Israel. 26 живописцев and sculptors" (1964-1965) at the Jewish Museum new-Йорка and others. Had ten personal exhibitions: in Haifa (1924), Jerusalem (1925, 1949, 1952, 1984), tel-Авиве (1941, 1951, 1976, 1984), Amsterdam (1955), Brussels (1956).

In 1942 he was awarded the prize. М. Дизенгофа "for outstanding achievements in the field of fine arts", in 1959 — the Israel prize. Honorary President of the Israeli Association of painters and sculptors. Is one of the founders of the modern art of Israel.

he Taught in his own Studio of painting organized in the basement of the house.

In 1987 he published a monograph М. Омера dedicated to the artist's work.

his Works are in many Museum collections, including the Museum of arts tel Aviv-Авива, the Israel Museum, the National Museum "Bezalel" in Jerusalem and other.
