Biographical information on the wizard are scarce. Opitz is a type of a wandering artist, is very widespread in XVIII - first half of the XIX century. Art education has received in Dresden, led by F. Casanova. Began as a portraitist, studied painting and miniature. In 1801 he moved to Vienna, where he showed his talent in the image of typical scenes of popular life, following the fifty-two sketches from nature, which were later transferred to print. In 1814, accompanied by the Duchess of Courland, Charlotte Dorothy in Paris. Created a series of watercolors Cossacks in Paris ", numbering about 45 sheets.
