enjoys photography from the age of eleven. Perhaps, he studied at the Odessa Art School, then at the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute and the Moscow Conservatory on violin. He played in orchestras, performed with the orchestra. In the 1920's came to photojournalism.

in 1920-1930 was a photojournalist many Moscow newspapers and magazines, including "Give," "Building", worked in the newspaper "Evening Moscow". I photographed the order IZOGIZa new buildings in the Ukraine, the factory "Dinamo" and Kramatorsky Engineering Works, collective and state farms. Many worked in Kazakhstan.

In 1930-1931 he was a member of the creative group "October" (B. Ignatovich, A. Rodchenko, V. Gryuntal). Participated in the first exhibition association "October" in Central Park of Culture and Rest in Moscow, as well as in the second exhibition association, which was held at the Press House in Moscow.
