Biographical details are few.

Studied at the Academy of St. Luke in Rome. Since 1858 he worked in St. Petersburg. Initially involved in the monumental and decorative painting - painted ceilings, wrote to the royal box the Mariinsky Theater, Church of the Resurrection of the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoe Selo. He worked as a portraitist in the spirit of academic salon. Became known as a master of pastels, enjoyed great success for women and children's portraits, done with colored pencils.

In 1861 "in respect of art and knowledge in the arts" was awarded the title of academician of portraiture. In 1864 was elected an honorary associate of the Academy freestyle IAH. In 1869, held a solo exhibition at IAH in favor of poor students, widows and orphans of artists. In 1870 awarded the Order of St. Stanislaus 2 nd degree for his years of artistic activity for the benefit of Russian art.

In 1871 he left Russia.

In 1881 in Rome, had committed suicide.

works are in several museum collections, particularly in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Museum of Russia Academy of Arts, the Odessa Art Museum and others.
