Biographical details are scarce. Swedish citizen, studied in France by P. Delaroche. Worked in Germany and Denmark (Copenhagen), from mid 1860 - in St. Petersburg in 1875, apparently left Russia.
worked in the field of battle and animalistic paintings carried out orders of the imperial court. From 1861 (and 1875, with interruptions) has participated in exhibitions in the halls of IAH in St. Petersburg. In the same year was awarded the title of Academician, and was elected an honorary associate of the Academy freestyle IAH. In 1868 he filed a petition to the Board of IAH on awarding the title of professor of historical painting, but was refused.
