Danish citizen; art education in the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, led by B. Thorvaldsen. During the period of study took two silver and the first gold medal.

In 1845 he founded the first factory in St. Petersburg for the production of outdoor decorations in terracotta (joint with I. Reimers). Served with bas-reliefs, busts, figures, designs fountains, vases, fireplaces.
