was born in the family of a bricklayer, a native of Switzerland, Antonio Monigeti. He studied at the School of drawing in relation to arts and crafts (Stroganov School, graduated in 1834), in the IAH (1834-1839) at the AP Bryullov. He was awarded a small (1837) and large (1838) silver medals. In 1839, the draft drama school was awarded a small gold medal because of illness in the competition for a gold medal did not participate. Came out of IAH with the title of class artist of the class XIV and the right of a pensioner's travel abroad.

In 1839 went to Italy, traveled to Greece and the Middle East (Turkey, Egypt). In 1847 he returned to St. Petersburg, from 1868 he lived in his house in Tsarskoe Selo. In 1847 he was awarded the title of academician of the album of drawings of architectural monuments of Greece and Rome, from 1858 - Professor of IAH.

Since 1848, served as the architect of the Ministry of the Imperial Court and principalities, from 1860 - architect of the Imperial Court. Engaged in the development of architectural projects, lighting, decorative and applied arts (service of Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich for Anichkov Palace). He has also worked in watercolor portrait.

The project Monigetti were built "Swiss House" (1848), pavilion "Turkish bath" in Tsarskoe Selo (1850-1852), home of Count Novosiltsev Apraksina Countess, Princess MV ; Vorontsova (1856-1857), tenement house Zherebtsova (1852-1854) in St. Petersburg. In 1850-60's designed the interiors of the Yusupov Palace on the Moika, Mariinsky Palace, Anichkov Palace, VP Stroganov palace in St. Petersburg, the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoe Selo.

In 1860 worked a lot in the Crimean estate of Livadia, a gift from Alexander II's wife Maria Alexandrovna. There Monigetti project was built over 70 buildings, of which the most significant were the Great Imperial Palace and the Small Palace (Palace of the heir). In 1869-1873 on behalf of the Naval Ministry created a draft design of the Imperial Yacht "Livadia" and "The Power».

Finished draft of the Orthodox Church in Switzerland, in Vevey (1864, built in 1872-1873). He was engaged in the restructuring of the house in Marino - Manor Baryatinsky in Kursk province. He performed the project for the Maritime Division of the Polytechnic Exhibition in Moscow (1872), a project Russia pavilion at the World Exhibition in Vienna (1873).

For many years he worked at the Imperial Glass Factory, where he focused on creating projects dishes. In the drawings Monigetti performed "Byzantine tableware, ceramics for the imperial yacht.

collaboration with the sculptor I. Schroeder created monuments FF Bellingshausen in Kronstadt, Peter I in Petrozavodsk, Kruzenstern in St. Petersburg (all - 1870).

Monighetti - one of the most significant architects of the second half of XIX century in Russia, the representative of historicism. In general, continuing his work in the tradition of Russian Romanticism, he experimented in different directions, most often using elements of Baroque and Russian-Byzantine style, in the interiors - Oriental motifs.
