born in the family of the painter Biedermeier SUCCESSION Vogel. Initial skills in drawing was led by his father. In 1805-1807 he studied at the Art Academy in Dresden. In 1807, together with Baron E. Lowenstern traveled to the Baltics.

In 1808-1812 he worked in St. Petersburg, where he created many portraits of representatives of the Russian nobility. Taught drawing Princes Gagarin. In 1812 he returned to Dresden. In March next year in Prague and Vienna, went to Italy. After a short stay in Venice, Bologna and Florence, he settled in Rome. Friends with the artists-nazareytsami. Created graphic portraits A. He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Madrid, Copenhagen and the Academy of St. Luke in Rome.
