born in the family of the painter Biedermeier SUCCESSION Vogel. Initial skills in drawing was led by his father. In 1805-1807 he studied at the Art Academy in Dresden. In 1807, together with Baron E. Lowenstern traveled to the Baltics.

In 1808-1812 he worked in St. Petersburg, where he created many portraits of representatives of the Russian nobility. Taught drawing Princes Gagarin. In 1812 he returned to Dresden.
