occurred from a peasant family. In 1901-1908 he studied at the Stroganov School of Industrial Art, then continued his education at MUZhViZ AE Arkhipov, NA Kasatkin, S. Ivanov, S. -B. Noakovskogo, Korovin, A. Vasnetsov, and A. Stepanov. He graduated from the course in 1915.

Since 1914 he participated in exhibitions "Moscow Salon", from 1917 - member of society. After the revolution, joined the trade union painters in Moscow. In 1918 worked on the holiday decoration in Moscow on May 1, completed registration Pipe and Sukharev areas. In the same year due to illness, went to the parents to the Urals, which was cut off from Moscow's army of Kolchak. For some time he taught at Alexeyevskoye real school in Yekaterinburg, then with the retreat of the army was in Chita.

In 1920 he moved to Harbin. From 1920 to 1927 he taught at the studio arts "Lotus", organized by Russian emigres. In the studio, met with the novice artist VE Kuznetsova, which later became his wife. In 1948 he moved to Yaroslavl, until 1959 he taught at the Yaroslavl Art School. In 1954 and 1963 were held solo exhibitions of works Kichigina in Yaroslavl. In 1958-1960 with the assistance of A. Vertinsky, whom he met during his stay in Shanghai and Harbin, was organized jointly with Kuznetsova-Kichigin exhibition "China. Korea ", shown in Moscow, Petrozavodsk and Kursk. In 1989 and 1999 were held retrospective exhibitions of artists in Yaroslavl.

Name Kichigina hitherto known only to a rather narrow circle of specialists, although the artist's work is one of the most interesting and original pages in the history of the so-called "Russian Abroad". After graduating from the Stroganov School, and then MUZhViZ, Kichigin had a solid base of handicrafts. In the 1900's - 1910-s often turned to themes of peasant feasts and festivities, which brings together his works of this period with the works of BM Kustodiev, FA Malyavina and partly with . V. Gerasimov - classmate Kichigina on MUZhViZ. His paintings combine the brilliance and ornamentation with a strict classic pattern.

In China, individual style is almost not changed, in contrast to his wife, artist Kuznetsova-Kichigina, he has not experienced the strong influence of Chinese art, another became a theme of work. Types of China, executed in oils and watercolors, domestic sketches, portraits make up the bulk of his creative heritage 1920 - 1940. In the last period of life, after returning to Russia, was engaged mainly in teaching and almost never worked as an artist.
