he received his Artistic education in Moscow, St. Petersburg and London. From 1920 lived in England. Was the artist's first permanent English ballet company Ballet club. Designed productions of the leading English choreographer Ф. Аштона "the Tragedy of fashion" (1926), "Nocturne" (1936), "Horoscope" (1938), "Dante-Сюита" (1940), "Symphonic variations" (1946). He performed sets and costumes for the ballet "the Scorpion of ISIS" (1932), "Orpheus and Eurydice" (1941), "a Strange holiday" (1940), "Summer interlude" (1950). One of the founders of the performing traditions of modern British ballet.

he Painted portraits, still lifes. Exhibited in the salon d'automne, the salon des indépendants in Paris. In 1920-40-х held a number of solo exhibitions in London galleries "BOS-Ар", "Leicester", and others.

Died in an accident during the work on the ballet "the Venetian" Г. Доницетти.

In 1956 the Victoria and albert Museum was set up a mobile memorial exhibition of the artist.
