born in a family of Bohemian craftsman, in 1830 settled in the Crimea. Initial skills in drawing acquired in Simferopol district school under the direction of L. Gross. In 1848 he moved to Theodosia. He studied in the general workshop, headed by Ivan Aivazovsky. Served a copy of his paintings. In 1860-1865 he studied at MUZHVZ. However, the constant student of the course was not, because he lived in Feodosia, where he continued his studies at Aivazovsky, periodically coming to Moscow. In 1866, for the scenery "View Theodosius" and "View of Sudak Gore was awarded a small silver medal.
