painter, graphic artist, theater artist.

first studied painting under the authority of her husband, the artist AA Arapova. In 1923-1926 she studied in Moscow at the Higher Art by Pyotr Konchalovsky and AA Osmyorkin.

In 1926 she moved to Leningrad, where she lived until 1940. Probably, in 1929-1930 became a member of the team "Workshop Analytical Art" (MAI), which was headed. PN Filonov. The group also included P. Kondratyev, VV Kuptsov, BI Gurvich, EA Kibrik, Y. B. Khrzhanovsky, AI whips, TN Glebova, AE Mordvinova and other students Filonova.

In 1930 at the First Public Exhibition of Fine Arts artist (under the pseudonym Julian Koltsov) displayed a picture "Field of Mars».

At the same time Kapitanova provoked the conflict, which became the formal reason for the split MAI, where filonovskaya idea of "collective workshop" gradually lose the opportunity for implementation. Part of the group (NV Ivanova, TN Glebov, AI whips, SL Zaklikovskaya, LN ; Tagriny, G. Kapitanova) headed Filonov left the group, the others continued their work.

In 1932 Filonov received from the publishing house Academia order to create illustrations of the Karelian-Finnish epos "Kalevala". Initially Kapitanova together with other students, colleagues, masters participated in this work, but in the book her name is not because, fearing a split already in the new team, Filonov almost at the beginning of the work had still to be removed from the group.

Later Kapitanova as a set designer helped her husband in the design of performances for theaters in Leningrad and Moscow.
