Painter, graphic artist, military leader

From a noble family. Son General-майора В. А. Геруа grandson of commander of Leib-гвардии Engineer battalion of General А. К. Геруа brother military leader, General-квартирмейстера А. В. Геруа. Studied in 1-м cadet corps, page corps (graduated in 1895) in St. Petersburg. He served in the Leib-гвардии Chasseur regiment, from 1899 — Lieutenant. In the second half of 1890-х attended the school of Drawing society for the encouragement of arts in St. Petersburg.

In 1901-1904 — listener of the Nikolaev Academy of the General staff. The staff-капитан (1903), captain of the General staff (1905). Russian party-Японской (1905) and the First world war (1914-1917). Colonel (1912). The commander of the Leib-гвардии Izmailovsky regiment (1915-1916). General-майор (1916). Awarded the order of St .. Vladimir 4-й degree, Anna 2-й and 4-й degree, St. Stanislaus 2-й and 3-й degrees.

In August 1917 участвовал in the campaign of General Л. Г. Корнилова at Petrograd, was arrested, subsequently released for lack of evidence.

he Taught at the Nikolai military Academy as the Professor of tactics (from 1912), tenured Professor (from 1917).

In 1918 together with his family through Finland travelled to the UK. The Chairman of the Special military mission to provide material assistance to the white armies. After the liquidation of the mission in 1920 settled in Chelsea in London and devoted himself to painting. Attended art school at the Chelsea and Slade. He painted portraits, landscapes; was engaged in book graphic art, doing caricatures, everyday scenes. Participated in exhibitions of the Royal society of artists-портретистов (1921-1923), New English art club (1927-1930), the Royal society of British artists (1935). Fellow of the Royal society for the encouragement of arts (since 1935).

he Taught at an art school in Chelsea and the Institute Hampstead (late 1920-х). Author of articles on the history of Russian art and military themes.

Engaged in social and scientific activities. The delegate of the Russian Overseas Congress in Paris from Russian emigration in England (1926), member of the education Committee, Higher military-научных courses in Paris. In 1930 in Paris at a joint scientific meeting of the Russian Academic group and Higher military-научных courses were made by the opponent on defense А. А. Зайцевым dissertation: "General tactics". The Chairman of the Association Leib-гвардии Izmailovsky regiment (1939).

the author of the memoir: "memories of my life" (Paris, 1969-1970, volumes 1-2; is illustrated with drawings by the author).
