he Studied at the Drawing school of the Society for the encouragement of arts (1909-1910), studios Я. Ф. Ционглинского and М. В. Бернштейна, school Е. Н. Званцевой in St. Petersburg — St. Petersburg (1909-1918), Petrograd State free art studios (1918-1919) К. С. Петрова-Водкина.

Lived in St. Petersburg — Petrograd — Leningrad. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes. In 1921-1925 работал in scientific-исследовательском Department of the Petrograd GShM — VKhUTEMAS. In 1933-1941 — artist and consultant to the State Bolshoi drama theater in Leningrad ("plum" А. Н. Островского, 1933;, "the Aristocrats" Н. Ф. Погодина, 1935). He designed the performances of the Leningrad state small Opera theatre ("the Queen of spades" П. И. Чайковского in the production В. Э. Мейерхольда, 1935). As an animator worked on the creation of the cartoon "the silly little mouse" a poem С. Я. Маршака (1940).

Since 1916 — participated in exhibitions. A member and Exhibitor associations: Mir iskusstva (1916-1918), "Heat-цвет" (1924), "Community of artists" (1925, 1928, 1929), "the Association of modern artists of Ukraine" (1928). Party 1-й state free exhibition of works of art (1919), the thematic exhibition "Great Russian revolution" (1919, bid), Petrograd artists of all directions (1923), thematic exhibitions "worker" (1926, competitive), jubilee exhibition theatrical-декорационного art (1927), 1-й citywide exhibition of fine arts (1930) in Petrograd — Leningrad, "To help flood victims in Western Ukraine" (1927) in Kiev, all-Ukrainian jubilee exhibition, dedicated 10-летию October (1927) in Kharkov, the art exhibition dedicated to 10-летнему the anniversary of the October revolution (1928) in Moscow, "Artists of the RSFSR for XV years" (1932-1934) in Leningrad and Moscow, and others.

In 1919-1933 taught in various educational institutions of the Novgorod, Kiev, Leningrad. Died of starvation during the blockade of Leningrad.

Works are in several Museum collections, including the State Russian Museum.
