to a family of artisans-игрушечников. He studied at Moscow art College of memory 1905 года (1934-1939) Г. Н. Горелова, Н. П. Крымова, С. И. Фролова, А. П. Чиркова. After graduation he worked on contracts on fulfilling the copies in the Museum of the Revolution in Moscow.

Lived in Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad). Made creative trips to the House of creativity "Academic dacha" of the Tver region (1947-1948), Czechoslovakia (1975), Bulgaria, Japan (1980), Canada (1985). Worked as the art Department right Park of culture and leisure. Н. С. Хрущева in Zagorsk (1941-1944), artist of the Zagorsk artistic-промышленной workshop (SHPM, 1944-1979); member (from 1946) and President (from 1960) of the arts Council SHPM.

Performed landscapes, portraits, still lifes, genre and thematic paintings. Author of painting works: "the Roads of war. The suburb of Zagorsk", "Market" (both —1945), "Collective herd" (1947), "In space" (1948), "Night" (1949), "portrait of a farmer", "Afternoon tea in the collective farm herd" (both — 1950), "wild flowers", "Little lady" (both — 1951), "Green" (1955), "barnyard" (1959), "Girl with calf" (1962), "light Bulb Ilyich", "the sun", "farm" (all — 1969), "Old Bazaar" (1976-1977), "the Bazaar. Zagorsk. 20-е years" (1977-1978), "In the Studio. Winter still life" (1980), "Taylor's pond" (1984).

during the great Patriotic war, he served posters for "Window TASS". Created a mural for the pavilion "Livestock" in VSHV (1951).

From 1943 — participated in exhibitions. One of the organizers and member of the Board of the Association "Zagorski artist" (1943-1944). A member of the Union of artists of the USSR (1945), a member of the Board of the Union of artists of the RSFSR (1973 to 1987) and the Moscow regional organization of the Union of Soviet artists (1952-1977; in 1972-1976 — Deputy Chairman of the Board).

Exhibited: artists of the Moscow region (1944, 1950, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1963), all-Union art exhibitions (1947, 1949, 1950, 1985), works of artists of the RSFSR (1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1970, 1977, 1985), works by artists-маринистов of the USSR (1954), portraits of the artists of the Moscow region (1959), "In unison" (1964), "Artists of Moscow region" (1972) in Moscow; works Zagorski artists (1943, 1945, 1951, 1957, 1958), artists of the Zagorsk area (1954) in Zagorsk. Participant of several exhibitions of Soviet art abroad: in the USA, France, UK, Japan, Poland, Italy, Finland, Greece, Germany. His personal exhibitions were held in Zagorsk — Sergiev Posad (1948, 1953, 1958, 1988, 1993, 1998), Moscow (1968-1969, 1978, 1981), Tokyo (1980), Montreal (1984-1985).

Honored artist of the RSFSR (1972), people's artist of the RSFSR (1980). Awarded Vsekohudozhnik (1949), gold medal award-honorary member of the Italian Academy of arts (1978), the order "Friendship of peoples" (1989). Honorary citizen of Zagorsk (1981).

a Memorial exhibition of the works took place in Sergiev Posad (2003, 2009 —приурочена to 90-летию birthday).
