INFANTE-ARANA Francisco

Graphic artist, painter, photographer, master of installations and objects

Francisco Infante studied at Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art in 1962–1965. Since 1962 he was a member of the group of artists interested in geometric and kinetic art; in 1964 the group was reorganized by Lev Nusberg into the art group Dvizhenie (“Movement”).

In 1970 Infante together with his wife Nonna Goryunova founded the art group Argo.

Since 1973 Infante was a member of Moscow Municipal Committee of graphic art, and Moscow Section of the Union of Artists (MOSKh). In 1996 the artist received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in literature and arts for “development of new language in art”. Since 1968 he created outdoor installations. Since 1975 he was engaged in so called Artifacts — photographs of assemblages, in which artificial objects were combined with natural environment.

Infante participated in more than 300 exhibitions in Russia and abroad.

Works by Francisco Infante-Arana are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), and in private collections in Russia, USA, Europe, and Japan.
