he received his General education in the Kaluga real school. He studied at the Moscow Institute of engineers of means of communication (graduated in 1916). Worked as an engineer of Railways, was engaged in the study of the characteristics of the design and construction of railway stations and junctions. He served in the people's Commissariat of Railways (1921-1928), Institute of railway transport, the Institute of complex transport problems. He taught at the Moscow Institute of railway transport engineers, Leningrad military-транспортной Academy; Professor (1931). Doctor of technical Sciences (1938), honored worker of science and technology of the RSFSR (1965).

in Parallel with the main job was painting. He studied at the State free art studios (1918) А. М. Васнецова, the Leningrad Institute of painting, architecture and sculpture — Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture named after. И. Е. Репина (1939-1949) И. Э. Грабаря, Б. В. Иогансона. In 1949 he defended his thesis, "the Area of the Motherland." He painted mainly landscapes.

From 1939 — participated in exhibitions. Exhibited at the exhibition in Hungary (1960). His personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1961, 1971), Kaluga (1973).
