In 1919 he moved to Vladivostok in 1920 together with his family emigrated to China. He studied at the commercial College in Harbin (1923-1927). In the future, creating paintings in an abstract manner (abstract surrealism), collages, assemblages, objects. In his works he combines different materials: oil painting, wood, metal, plastic with everyday objects (the parts of typewriters, rulers, packaging, etc.). Studied sculpture. In 1970-80-е executed a number of murals for halls libraries on literary subjects. Created a project house for his sister Tamara in great Neck (state of new-Йорк; 1967-1972), a project of the children's reading room at the University of Hartford (1993-1995).

From 1935 she worked as an artist at the textile factory Cretona Print&Dye Works, Inc. in Clifton (state of new-Джерси), 1937-1941 — chief artist and Manager of the printing process at the factory Arrow Textile Print Works, Inc. in Patterson (the state of new-Джерси). In 1936 he participated in the Federal art project (WPA Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration) as an assistant to the artist Hananiah Harari (Harari Hananiah).

Little dog found (1956), Boris and his Balalaika (1964), Pezzo the Peddler and the circus elephant (1967), Billy the condominium cat (1980) and others In 1958 for the book Caps for sale was awarded the Lewis Carroll; the book became a bestseller and has sold over 2 миллионом copies.

For the preservation of their heritage in 2000 founded the Fund for Slobodkina (Slobodkina Foundation).
