was born in the family of a craftsman, a native of Italy. His younger brother PA Rizzoni, under whose guidance I received my first artistic skills. He graduated from the Riga district school. In 1852-1863 he studied at the IAH in the class of battle-painting at BP Villevalde. During the study twice at his own expense to travel overseas, in 1858 traveled to Italy and France, in 1860 went to Spain and Belgium. Received all of the existing academic awards: in 1857 - a small silver medal for graphic portraits AP Schwab, O. Schwab, E. C. Frick, and now "Musicians in inn (inn) ", in 1858 - a large silver medal for his film" An Italian organ-grinder at the inn, in 1860 - a small gold medal for the painting "Jews-smugglers", in 1862 - a gold medal for the painting "at auction Livonia village. Was released with the title of class artist 1-th degree and the right of a pensioner's travel abroad for a period of three years. In 1863-1866 - retired IAH in France and Italy. Also visited Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Dusseldorf), Holland, Spain, Portugal. Exhibited his work in the Paris Salon (1865-1866).

In 1866, he returned to St. Petersburg, presented to the Board of IAH eight miniature paintings depicting domestic species of the synagogue, the Roman stables and various commercial establishments; was honored for their academic rank and received an extension until 1868 a pensioner's content. In the same year held a solo exhibition at Tsarskoe Selo. In late 1866 - early 1867 traveled to Russia to collect material for the paintings on the theme of national life. In 1867, he visited the World Exhibition in Paris. He worked in Paris and Rome, once again visited Spain and Portugal. In 1868, eleven paintings depicting various scenes from the Italian way of life given the title of professor, but not engaged in teaching activities.

Since 1869 he lived permanently in Rome, periodically coming to Russia. Participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (Member MOLH since 1867). Exhibited his work at the World Exhibition in Vienna 1873. In 1878 he held a solo exhibition in St. Petersburg. Was friendly with P. M. Tretyakov, who was assisted in the formation of the collection, contributing to the acquisition of works of K. Briullov, Silva. Shchedrin.

Graduated suicide. Buried in the cemetery of Monte Testaccio in Rome.

Rizzoni - one of the greatest masters of academic painting in Russia in the second half of the XIX century, worked as a genre painter, landscape painter, portraitist, creating the so-called women's "head". His works are distinguished by the high level of professional skill - the consistency of composition and color palette, careful prescription details.

Rizzoni works are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum and others.
