he Took lessons of painting and drawing at Н. С. Самокиша in Evpatoria (1921-1923). Studied in VKhUTEMAS — Vhuteine in Moscow (1924-1930), in the graphical Department, Л. А. Бруни, П. Я. Павлинова, В. А. Фаворского, Н. Н. Купреянова, А. И. Кравченко.

he Lived in Moscow. Was engaged in easel, book graphics, ex libris. Worked in the technique of woodcuts. Designed books for Goslitizdat, Academia publishers "Soviet writer", "Art", children literature and others. In 1940-х worked as an art editor of publishing house "Young guard".

he Completed the illustrations for the books: "Poems" П. Г. Антокольского (1935), "the Comedy" С. Ахундова (1936), "the Crime of Sylvester Bonnard" А. Франса (1939), "the common people" А. И. Недогонова (1949), "favorites" М. Эминеску (1951), "Song of Hiawatha" Г.-У. Лонгфелло (1955; 1-я prize at the national competition "Best books of 1960 года"), "Pieces" Б. Брехта (1956), "German folk ballads" (1959; bronze medal at the international book fair in Leipzig 1959), "Poems" Э. Г. Багрицкого (1960), "Tales for reading and presentation" С. Я. Маршака (1962), "Lyrics" Г. Гейне (1963), "one Hundred songs" П.-Ж. Беранже (1966) and others.

he travelled all over the country; visited in the sea of Azov, Central Asia, the Baltics, the Crimea, the Caucasus, many ancient Russian cities. Often went to the sketches in the suburbs. Created series of easel paintings "Landscapes of Suzdal" (1956), "Fishermen of Yeysk" (1958), "Landscapes of Latvia" (1963).

From 1934 — participated in exhibitions. He showed his works at exhibitions: the exhibition-смотр of young artists (1936), Soviet illustrations to fiction within five years. 1931-1936 (1936), artists books (1951, 1953, 1957), all-Union art exhibitions (1951, 1954, 1955,1957, 1959), engravings and etchings (1957), exhibition 1-му all-Union Congress of Soviet artists (1957), woodcuts of the XV — XX centuries (1962), "Soviet Russia" (1965) in Moscow and others. Participated in international exhibitions in Denmark (1934), Bulgaria, Sweden, Poland, UK, USA (all — 1950-60-е).

Work is represented in major Museum collections, including the Pushkin Museum to them. А. С. Пушкина State Tretyakov gallery, the State Russian Museum and others.
