he Studied at MUZHVZ (1911-1917) К. А. Коровина, С. В. Малютина, Н. А. Касаткина. He lived in Moscow. After the October revolution worked in the field of poster, satirical graphics. In 1919 he created the first "Window of GROWTH". Worked in "Windows" of the Department of main political education, magazines "Crocodile" (from 1922), "the Atheist at the machine", "Smekhach" and others. Created illustrations for "ABC anti-Religious" (1933), the collected works М. Е. Салтыкова-Щедрина (1936-1939), poetry collection "Prickly poems". В. И. Лебедева-Кумача (1945). He designed theatrical productions ("the Pompadours" А. Ф. Пащенко in the Leningrad Maly Opera theater, 1939). During the great Patriotic war he worked in the "Windows TASS".

he Participated in exhibitions of group of artists trade Union (1919), 1-й the exhibition graphics (1926), works of art in 10-летнему the anniversary of the October revolution (1928), "Window satire GROWTH" (1929), works of revolutionary and Soviet themes (1930), "Socialist construction in Soviet art" (1930, 1931), "Poster at the service of the five-year plan", "Caricature in the service of socialist construction" (both — 1932) in Moscow, group "L on Armenia" ("Spider", 1925) in Paris, outcomes and achievements of the Soviet authorities for 10 лет (1927-1928; itinerant: Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen), graphics, drawing, poster and book (1930) in Danzig, "public education in the USSR" (1932) in London and elsewhere.

he Taught at the Moscow state art Institute. В. И. Сурикова (1949-1962), Professor (1950). The winner of the State (Stalin) prize of the USSR (1942). In 1952 was awarded the title people's artist of the USSR, in 1958 he was elected member of the USSR Academy of arts.

Cheremnykh — one of the greatest masters of the Soviet satirical graphics of the first half of the twentieth century; his painting is characterized by political acuteness of the subjects, a strong alignment of figure with the text of the inscriptions, bold composition, expressive line.

Works are in several Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery, the State literary Museum, the Pushkin Museum im. А. С. Пушкина and others.
