Biographical information about the artist scarce.

In 1878-1882 he studied at the IAH in St. Petersburg. For teaching assignments in 1880 was awarded a small silver medal. In 1881 he graduated from the course of studies in the following year was promoted to neklassnogo (free), painter.

From 1882 he lived and worked in Saratov. In 1890 he was awarded the title of class artist of the 3rd degree for the painting "We fell asleep».

Participated in exhibitions and IAH TPHV. To teach: in 1882-1898 led to the painting of Alexander and Mary Real School, in the early 1890's - at the Mariinsky Institute of noble maidens, in 1898-1906 - in the Mariinsky a girls' school. He gave private lessons. Among his students - B. Borisov-Musatov.
