first knowledge of painting was in 1939-1945 in MSHSH.

In 1945-1951 he studied at the Moscow State Institute. VISurikova on the picturesque faculty at DK Mochalskogo, G. K. Savitsky, VV Pochitalova.

first creative visit the artist made while still a student. In 1946-1950 and subsequent years he often visited Kostroma and Yaroslavl regions, was on Lake Baikal and Issyk-Kul, on the Yenisei and Angara River, Irkutsk and Omsk.

In 1954 Stozharau visited the virgin soil, in the same year was admitted to the MOSSH and participated in the All-Union Art Exhibition, each year until 1959 exhibited his works at exhibitions of young artists.

In 1959, his first visit to Italy, in 1960, undertook a visit to France. In the 1960's - 1970's traveled extensively in the North of Russia: visited Komi, Arkhangelsk region, in the northern rivers, in the Pskov and Novgorod regions.

Stozharau In 1965 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

In 1966 the artist participated in the XXXIII International exhibition "Venice Biennale", in 1967 was awarded the silver medal of the USSR Academy of Arts for a number of works created over the period 1964-1967. In 1968 received the State Prize of the RSFSR Repin for works created over the period 1960-1967.

in 1971 went to Great Britain, with a group exhibition of paintings of the RSFSR "Russian North" visited Romania (1971-1972).

In 1972-1974 was traveling solo exhibition of paintings Stozharov in Syktyvkar, Arkhangelsk, Kirov, Izhevsk, Gorki, Kuibyshev, Ulyanovsk, Astrakhan, Kostroma, Ryazan, Bryansk, Kalinin, Tula, Kaluga, Smolensk.

In 1973 was elected a corresponding member of USSR Academy of Arts.
