Painter, graphic artist, poet

From the family of the financier. He graduated from gymnasium in Kiev. The Civil war in Ukraine as part of the UNR army; after the retreat moved to Poland. He studied at the Krakow Academy of fine arts (1921-1923) В. Яроцкого then in Prague — Charles University (1926-1927) at the faculty of Philology and the Ukrainian Studio of plastic arts (1927-1928) С. А. Мако. Member of the Association of independent Ukrainian artists.

In 1928 he settled in Paris; throughout life maintained a refugee travel document and emphasized their belonging to Ukraine. Enjoy the support of the famous Marshal Л. Зборовского and А. Воллара, collectors С. И. Щукина and В. Минниха. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes, Nudes in the tradition of post-impressionism, neoprimitiva; the representative of the Paris school; went through the passion for creativity Ж. Руо, Х. Сутина, М. Вламинка. In 1959 married his Spanish model Maria.

Exhibited in the salon d'automne (1928), however В. Перебийнисом and Н. В. Кричевским — in the exhibition in the gallery Atelier Francais (1930). His personal exhibitions were held in Paris galleries: A. Poyet (1936), Wolman (1938), J. Allard (1946), Paulette Jourdain (1950), the Tessin Institute in Paris (1942); Redfern gallery, London (1944), new-йоркской Leonard Hutton (1962), Geneva, Galerie des Granges (1980) and others. From 1943 he worked with the galleries of Durand-Ruel, which is regularly organized exhibitions of the artist: in Paris (1943, 1945, 1947, 1956, 1960, 1967, 1972) and new-Йорке (1946, 1948). In 1974 the work of Holuka were shown at the exhibition "Russian view" in Heidelberg.

in Addition to painting, he was engaged in poetic creativity; has published collections of poems: "Gin" (1926), "1926, 1928, 1923" (1927), "Autumn sun" (1928; all in Prague).

he was Buried at the Montparnasse cemetery in Paris.

a Memorial exhibition of the artist's works took place in Kiev (2009).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the Museum of modern art in Paris, the Museum of fine arts in Lucerne, the National art Museum of Ukraine in Kiev, Lviv art gallery and others.
