Biographical details are scarce. From petty-bourgeois families. He received his General education at the gymnasium in Moscow. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts (1845-1850) as volnoprihodyaschim student at А. Т. Макарова. In 1850 he received the title neklassnogo (free) artist. In 1859 утвержден in the title of "appointed" in academics, in 1861 for portraits "lady and the knyazhevich became its Archimandrite Gregory" was awarded the title of academician.

he Worked as a portraitist, rarely — genre painter, landscape painter; fulfilled the image of the Church for provincial churches. Created icons of the Voronezh Cathedral.

Exhibited in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1867, 1868, 1869, 1879, 1889).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the State Russian Museum.
