From a family of icon painter. He studied at the art school and art Studio in the city of Loginov Kaluga region (1913-1924), then — at the architectural faculty of the VKhUTEMAS — the Vkhutein in Moscow (1924-1930) К. Н. Истомина, А. В. Шевченко, К. С. Мельникова, В. Е. Татлина, В. И. Мухиной.

The author of the paintings: "Winter day" (1931), "the Suburban landscape" (1935), "Russkaya Starina" (1939), "a Military winter. Salute" (1944), "The Settlement. Corner of old Moscow" (1953), "the Lenin hills" (1959), "the Edge of the new town. Nov Christmas" (1965); series: "pafnutiev-Боровский monastery" (1950), "Novo-Девичий monastery" (1956), "Novospassky monastery" (1967), "Suzdal" (1967-1968), "Ferapontov monastery" (1969), "Abandoned house", "Heavens", "Earth", "Russian North", "Moscow built", "the Word about Igor's regiment"; cycles: "Fascism" (1967-1970), Rus (1969-1970), "Pugachev rebellion" (1970). Fulfilled a number of historical portraits — Andrei Rublev, Theophanes the Greek, Yemelyan Pugachev, Stepan Razin, Ivan the terrible, Malyuta Skuratov. Since 1965, — a member of the Union of artists of the USSR.

Since 1937 — participant of exhibitions ("the figure of the architect" in Moscow). He exposed his works at numerous exhibitions of Moscow artists (1958, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978), group "industry" (1972), as well as exhibitions: "historical Moscow" (1972), to the all-Union competition "Portrait" (1975) and others. His personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1961, 1982), Gurzuf (1980). In 1995 состоялась posthumous exhibition of the artist.

Work is represented in many Museum collections, including the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Museum of Moscow history and other.
