he Studied at the Academy of fine arts in Prague (1850-е). In 1858 came to St. Petersburg. Drew for magazines "Illustration" (1858), "Russkaya Starina", "Niva", "North" (all — 1870-90-е). In 1869-1901 — artist and head of art Department of the magazine "world illustration". Executed portraits, landscapes, genre sketches. He created artwork of the album "Russian folk tales and epics" (St. Petersburg, 1875), illustrated edition: "Folk tales" П. Л. Полевого (St. Petersburg, 1871), "Masons" А. Ф. Писемского (St. Petersburg, 1880-1881), "Princess Volodimirskaya" Е. А. Салиса de Tournemire (St. Petersburg, 1882), "The Besieged Sevastopol" М. М. Филиппова (St. Petersburg, 1889), "Two worlds" Е. А. Бекетовой (St. Petersburg, 1890), "Boss and employee" Л. Н. Толстого (St. Petersburg, 1895), "the Complete works" Н. В. Гоголя (M., 1902), "Boyar Orsha" and "novice" М. Ю. Лермонтова (both — Kiev — St. Petersburg, 1914).

According to the drawings of Broga employed many engravers and lithographers: К. Р. Вейерман, Л. А. Серяков, Э. Х. Дамюллер, А. Я. Даугель and others.

a member of the Association of Russian artists-иллюстраторов in St. Petersburg (1891-1898).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, among them — State Hermitage Museum.
