Painter, graphic artist, sculptor

From the family banker. He studied at the Munich Academy of fine arts (1913-1914). Participant of the First world war, fought in Galicia; was wounded, was taken prisoner, spent several years in Irkutsk.

In 1917 he appeared in Moscow, where he met В. В. Маяковским and С. А. Есениным; visited С. И. Щукина saw his collection of French art. In the same year he moved to Petrograd, where he moved to Vienna. He continued his education at the Cracow Academy of fine arts (1920-1922) Ж. Панкиевича and Т. Аксентовича in the Studio А. П. Архипенко in Berlin (1922). Was friends with З. Менкесом.

he Lived in Paris (from 1923);, by of the school of Paris. Wrote a cubist still lifes, and allegorical compositions with silhouettes of figures, semi-abstract paintings, landscapes, still lifes. During the Second world war participated in the activities of the underground organization. In the last years of his life spent a lot of time in Israel.

Since 1922 — participant of exhibitions (society of lovers of Jewish art in Lviv, 4-я exhibition of Jewish art in Warsaw). Exhibited in Autumn salon (1925-1927), the salons of the Tuileries (1927-1929), Independent (1934, 1956), Comparisons (1957-1962). His personal exhibitions were held in Paris galleries Katie Granoff (1929, 1952), "Wildenstein" (1949), "Lara Vinci" (1955), Saint Placide (1956), the London gallery "Moulton" (1961) and in Lviv (1931, 1932), tel Aviv-Авиве (1963), Haifa. Retrospective exhibitions were held in Paris (1968, at the salon of the Independent) and Geneva (1970).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the Art Museum of wrocław, the Art Museum of tel-Авива.
