From a peasant family. Participant of the First world war. After the October revolution he worked as a clerk Vitebsk subvencionada. Studied physics-химическом the faculty of the Vitebsk teaching Institute (1918-1919), in the Vitebsk people's art school — Vitebsk art-практическом Institute (1919-1921) К. С. Малевича, В. М. Ермолаевой; he graduated with degree "master of fine arts in painting and drawing".

he Lived in Vitebsk. Member of the Creative Committee of UNOVIS in Vitebsk. He worked in the mainstream futurism, cubism, Suprematism. Since the autumn of 1921 — Deputy rector art-практического Institute В. М. Ермолаевой; from August 1922 to August 1923 — acting rector. Has not been a consistent supporter of the ideas of Malevich and didn't defend it at the Institute of pedagogical system; in the autumn of 1923 the institution was reorganized with the lowering of the status of the Vitebsk art College.

Participated in 1-й (1925), 2-й (1927) all-Belarusian art exhibitions; all-Belarusian exhibition of paintings, graphics, sculpture, architecture (1930) in Minsk.

In 1923-1937 taught in secondary schools of Vitebsk. Arrested in 1937, accused of nationalist activities; executed.

Work is represented in several Museum collections, among them — Krasnodar art Museum n. a. Ф. А. Коваленко.
