born in Moscow. Father of the future poet and artist was an engineer, mother - a pianist. After school, worked for two years at the factory as a fitter. In 1959 entered the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (former Stroganov) on the sculpture department. Graduated in 1966.

From 1966 to 1974 he worked in the architectural control of Moscow, made a living small sculptural form, mostly children. Ten years as head of MSU's student theater.

In the late 1960's - early 1970's ideological friends with the artists of the Moscow underground. Since 1972 - free artist. Since 1975 - Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (although the USSR was not organized by any one man show).
