From a Jewish family, the daughter of the farmer. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts (1878-1882) first as a volunteer, from 1887 — standing of student at А. Р. background bokeh, Н. А. Лаверецкого, И. И. Подозерова. Studied the technique of etching under the guidance В. А. Боброва. During the years of study was awarded a small incentive (1882, 1884, 1885) and a large silver (1886) medals. In 1888 at the program "Andromeda chained to the rock" received a small gold medal and the title of class artist of 2-й degree in sculpture. After graduating from the Imperial Academy of arts he continued his education in Paris and Rome.

Lived in St.-Петербурге (Petrograd, Leningrad). Traveled extensively in Europe. Worked in the easel, monumental, monumental-декоративной and memorial sculpture; portraitist, genre painter. The author of easel paintings: Capricious (1892), "Concubines" (1894), Tatiana (on the poem "Eugene Onegin" А. С. Пушкина, 1896), "Bacchante" (1898), La Esmeralda (1899), Lily (1900), "Ophelia" (hamlet У. Шекспира, 1901), "letter from the homeland (far East)" (1905), "Fountain of joy" (1916); portraits — К. Ю. Давыдова (1887), Г. П. Данилевского (1894), К. Я. Крыжицкого and Я. Ф. Ционглинского ("Conversation", 1913). Served sculptural models for Kasli iron foundry.

Created the monuments of math Н. И. Лобачевскому in Kazan (1896) and Ш. Гуно in Paris (about 1906); gravestones artist К. Я. Крыжицкого at the Smolensk cemetery in St. Petersburg (1912), composer А. С. Аренского (1908) and actress В. Ф. Комиссаржевской ((1915); both — the necropolis of artists Alexander Nevsky-Невской Lavra). In 1897-1898 he worked on the sculptural decoration of the mansion А. Ф. Кельха in St. Petersburg, performed in Florence allegorical figures of "Morning", "Midday" and "Evening" for the front stairs and nadolinny high relief "spring Awakening" (all — marble). Author of commemorative medals: 200-летие the founding of St. Petersburg (1903, in collaboration with Ф. Ф. Бухгольцем), in the memory 50-летия public service Director of the Hermitage И. А. Всеволожского (1906), 200-летнему the anniversary of the victory of Poltava (1909), 100-летию the Foundation of the Institute of engineers of railway transport (1910), 100-летию Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum (1911).

In the Soviet years participated in the competition for the monument В. И. Ленину at the Finland station (1925-1926).

From 1884 — participant of exhibitions. Exhibited in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1884-1918, with interruptions), the First ladies ' art circle (1888-1902, with interruptions), Saint-Петербургского (Petrograd) society of artists (1891-1918, with interruptions), the society of artists (1915-1916), society of artists to them. А. И. Куинджи (1917-1918); Patriotic exhibition of paintings "the War" (1915), 1-й the exhibition of sculpture (1922) in St.-Петербурге (Petrograd). Participated in the activities of the Jewish society for the encouragement of arts (1916). The work was exhibited at the World exhibitions in Chicago (1893), Paris (1900, Grand Prix-при), St-Луисе (1904); international exhibitions in Berlin (1896), Munich (1901), Rome (1911), Ghent (1913); the all-Russia industrial and art exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod (1896), Art-промышленной the exhibition in Odessa (1910).

she was Buried at the Smolensk cemetery in St. Petersburg.
